The five-acre lake at Lakeside Farm
The Lake & The Farm

Five acres of quiet.

Yours while you’re here

No other guests. No public footpath.
Just you and the swans.

The lake sits in the middle of our 75-acre farm, ringed by woodland and farmland, with five small islands and one cabin on its edge. While you’re staying, the whole shoreline is yours to walk, fish, row and sit beside.

The jetty on the lake
On the water

Take the boat out.

Your own rowing boat and canoe are tied up at the jetty. Drift between the islands, or just sit in the middle of the lake doing absolutely nothing — both are encouraged.

The lake is stocked and quietly popular with anglers in the family. Bring your rod; fishing is included in your stay.

The stream through the woodland
On foot

Walk the whole way round.

A full lap of the lake takes a slow half hour — longer if the wildlife interrupts, which it will. Woodland paths, the stream, the bridge to the island, and farmland rolling away beyond.

There’s a good pub within walking distance for when you don’t fancy cooking — and a little book-exchange phone box on the way, if a previous guest’s review is anything to go by.

The neighbours

Wild company.

Guests keep a running tally: nesting swans, geese, ducks, kingfishers, deer, hares, rabbits and red kites overhead. Spring brings cygnets; winter brings the clearest skies. The binoculars are by the window for a reason.

After dark
“Evenings in the hot tub, overlooking the lake with a glass of wine under a sky full of stars.”

A guest wrote that — we just try not to ruin it with outdoor lighting. On a clear night out here, the sky does the entertaining.

Beyond the farm

Twenty minutes from Newcastle.
A world away from everything.

Corbridge’s restaurants and Hexham’s market town charm are a short drive. Hadrian’s Wall, the Northumberland coast and Kielder’s official Dark Sky Park all make easy day trips — though most guests find it hard to leave the deck.

The lake is waiting.
