What we collect, why, and what we do with it — in plain English, in line with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Who we are
The data controller is Lakeside Farm Ltd (contact: William Anderson), Stocksfield, Northumberland NE43 7TW. Email: hello@lakesidefarm.uk.
What this website collects
Browsing this site requires no account and sets no tracking cookies. We don’t run advertising or cross-site tracking.
We use PostHog, hosted in the EU, for anonymous, cookieless usage statistics — which pages are visited and how the booking flow is used (for example, that a price was shown or a checkout button was clicked). Nothing is stored on your device, individual visitors aren’t identified or tracked between visits, and the data is used only to improve the site. This is our legitimate interest in understanding what works.
When you check availability or prices, the dates and guest count you pick are sent to our booking provider (Lodgify) to answer the query. We don’t store them.
Payment happens on Lodgify’s secure checkout. We never see or store your full card details.
What we collect when you book
Name, address, email and telephone number
Booking dates and any special requirements or requests
Our correspondence with you (emails, messages)
Why we collect it
To manage your booking and your stay — this is necessary to perform our contract with you.
To keep business and tax records — a legal obligation.
To communicate with you and improve the guest experience — our legitimate interest as hosts.
We’ll never sell your data, and we won’t email you marketing you didn’t ask for.
Who we share it with
Lodgify manages our bookings and stores booking data on our behalf (see Lodgify’s privacy policy). If you booked through Airbnb, Booking.com or Vrbo, that platform also holds your data under its own policy. Beyond that, we only share personal data where it’s necessary to process your booking, where the law requires it, or in an emergency.
How long we keep it
Booking and payment records are kept for as long as UK tax law requires (currently six years), then deleted. Everything else is kept only as long as it’s needed.
CCTV
There is a single external security camera facing the driveway, used for the safety of guests and the property. It does not overlook the lodge, deck or hot tub. Footage is kept for a short period and then automatically overwritten, and is only reviewed if there’s an incident.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask us to:
Show you the personal data we hold about you, and give you a copy
Correct anything inaccurate or incomplete
Delete your data, or restrict or object to how we use it
Withdraw consent, where consent is what we relied on
Email hello@lakesidefarm.ukand we’ll sort it. If you’re not happy with how we’ve handled something, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes
If we change this policy in any meaningful way we’ll post the update here, and tell you directly if it affects a booking you already have.
